Goldfinger Live in Toronto: Nine Lives Tour 2026

Ska Punk Has a New Generation of Fans

Nearly three decades after forming in Los Angeles in 1994, Goldfinger proved that ska punk is not only alive but thriving with a sold-out performance at History in Toronto on July 17.

The band is currently touring North America in support of Nine Lives, their ninth studio album, released on January 23, 2026. The record features an impressive list of collaborators, including Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), Jim Lindberg (Pennywise), Spencer Charnas (Ice Nine Kills), Zac Carper (FIDLAR), iann dior, and El Hefe (NOFX), making it one of the band's most ambitious releases to date.

Joining Goldfinger on the bill were Canadian ska legends The Planet Smashers, along with Millington and sullvn. All three opening acts delivered energetic performances that had the crowd dancing, skanking, and singing long before the headliners took the stage.

Who knew ska could inspire such wild mosh pits?

High Energy, No Fillers: Goldfinger Hits the Stage

There was no need for elaborate stage production or flashy pyrotechnics. This show was all about the music. Goldfinger fed off the audience's energy from the opening notes of "Spokesman", keeping the momentum high throughout fan favourites like "Here in Your Bedroom" and the Tony Hawk Pro Skater anthem "Superman," which sent the packed venue into a frenzy of singalongs and crowed surfing.

One of the biggest surprises of the evening was the number of young fans in attendance. Children as young as six years old were in the crowd alongside fans who have followed the band since the '90s, proving ska punk continues to resonate with a new generation. When frontman John Feldmann invited roughly 20 kids onstage to sing along. Not only did they enthusiastically join the performance, but they knew every word, earning huge cheers from the audience and putting smiles on everyone's faces.

Goldfinger's performance was a reminder that nearly 30 years after their formation, they remain every bit as energetic, entertaining, and relevant as ever. Judging by the atmosphere inside History, ska punk isn't simply surviving—it's being embraced by an entirely new generation of fans.
