Jinjer Brings Duél and More to Toronto

Ukrainian metal powerhouse Jinjer has returned to North America on a headlining tour in support of their fifth studio album, Duél, joined by supporting acts Crystal Lake and Entheos.

Spanning 37 dates across the United States and Canada, the tour's third stop landed at The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on June 7, 2026. Opening the evening was Entheos, the progressive death metal outfit from Santa Cruz, California, who delivered a powerful set that perfectly set the tone for the night ahead.

Fronted by the immensely talented Chaney Crabb, Entheos showcased the technical precision and intensity that have earned them a dedicated following. Crabb's commanding stage presence and remarkable vocal range immediately captured the crowd's attention, making for a memorable start to the evening.

Jinjer wasted no time making an impact, launching directly into the title track, "Duél." The momentum continued with "Green Serpent" and "Fast Draw," showcasing the band's latest material in all its crushing heaviness. Fans responded enthusiastically, with a massive mosh pit erupting early in the set and rarely slowing down throughout the night.

One of the evening's highlights for me was "Rogue," a standout track from the new album that the band wisely saved for later in the set. Overall, the setlist struck an excellent balance between newer material and the fan favorites such as "Teacher Teacher", "I Speak Astronomy" and "Pisces", that helped establish Jinjer as one of modern metal's most exciting acts.

From the opening moments, it was clear that this production represented a significant step forward for the band.

One of the most impressive elements of the show was the massive backdrop screen setup, which displayed custom visuals synchronized to each song. The combination of animation, lighting, and music created a highly immersive experience that elevated the performance beyond a standard concert presentation. Compared to the band's previous Toronto appearance in 2024, the production value was noticeably enhanced.

The stage design itself was refreshingly minimalist. Rather than filling the stage with oversized amplifier stacks and unnecessary props, the setup remained clean and uncluttered, directing the audience's focus squarely toward the musicians and the stunning visual presentation behind them.

Frontwoman Tatiana Shmayluk appeared in a striking silver outfit that perfectly complemented the aesthetic of the Duélalbum cycle. The futuristic design reflected both the band's modern sound and sharp visual identity. To my eye, the silhouette even evoked the shape of a bullet—whether intentional or not—reinforcing the sense of precision, power, and intensity that defines Jinjer's live performance.

Combining exceptional musicianship, a carefully crafted setlist, and a dramatically upgraded production, Jinjer delivered a performance that demonstrated exactly why they continue to rise through the ranks of the international metal scene. For Toronto fans, this stop on the Duél tour was a powerful reminder that Jinjer remains one of the most compelling live acts in modern heavy music.
