Sepultura celebrating life through death (Review/Photos)

Sepultura holds a special place in our hearts!
Front Row Fans creators Sergio and I (Mirela) actually met at a Sepultura show at The Opera House on March 16, 2022. The next time Sepultura came through—June 8, 2023, at the Danforth—we were engaged. We shared that story with Andreas Kisser, and he laughed, saying, “Wow, that was fast!”
So yeah—being married to a Brazilian, you could say Sepultura runs in the blood. We’re truly big fans.
40 years of Sepultura, packed into a 2hr set at The London music hall, felt like a true celebration of their entire career. They came out with full force, opening with “Beneath the Remains" '89, and took us through every Sepultura era—from Schizophrenia with “Escape to the Void” '87 to newer material like “The Place” 2026 from their latest EP.
The Cloud of Unknowing, released April 24, 2026, marks their only studio recording with their incredible drummer Greyson Nekrutman. Honestly, it’s hard to say what stands out most—the explosive drumming, the raw, heavy vocals, or those crushing guitar riffs. All four tracks feel connected, telling one cohesive story, but “Beyond the Dream” hit me the hardest. That line, “leave it all behind to begin again…” really stays with you. There’s something bittersweet about it—getting such powerful new music right at the end of Sepultura’s run. They’re leaving on a high note… while making us wish for more.
Near the end of the night, they tapped into their Brazilian roots with “Kaiowas,” inviting fans on stage to drum alongside them— honoring the Guarani-Kaiowá, an Indigenous tribe in Brazil—before launching into “Ratamahatta”, sung in Portugues and English lyrics which depict chaotic Brazilian urban life.
Then came the moment: Derrick’s iconic intro—“Sepultura from Brazil. 1, 2, 3, 4…”—and “Roots” echoed out for the final time on Canadian soil. The crowd gave everything back—jumping, crowd surfing, and a massive mosh pit to close it out.
In the end, it was bittersweet—but honestly, it couldn’t have ended any better.
Sepultura will wrap things up in Brazil, where it all began, before being laid to rest.
— Obrigada Sepultura 💚💛
